This is a poem written collaboratively in 2018. Two takatāpui writers passing linguistic shards between them to form an avalanche a swamp thing that searches for meaning in language, in the kupu, in relationships just beginning and just lost, in the sun, in the earth and in the water – there is a hunger here and loss but no rest.
Our ancestors are swimming through our threads here, our teeth are bared.
