There is the sense of life being cut short. A sense of things being forced into different shapes. I think it works as a foreshadowing of the ‘Con-ception’ a piece further on in the book. Here is the risk of life. I like its form a lot I like the page to act as a place to carve into as a place to create meaning from shape, I think poetry should be able to hang in the air, but also there is a lot of work that can be done on the page itself. Also that lonely ‘e’ really resonates with me for a lot of reasons.

Favourite line: ‘a mothe’ this is my favourite line because the reader doesn’t know what is up yet and it looks like a mouth or a moth and that is the thing I enjoy most about this poem is the potentiality of each word that has been cut into. Also the like the ys that turn the ly into a question.

Where I was: …………………………..umm? This poem reminds me of bus trips to and from Victoria University. Though I did write some of the poems on those bus trips this wasn’t one of them I don’t think?

Recommend:  a whole book that plays with ambiguities jos charles’ feeld excerpt from it here
